This is the “Review site” wherein we can leave a link to the books we’ve read for the Japanese Literature Challenge 17. I will keep it attached to the top of my blog, for easy accessibility, from now until the end of February.
Please guide us to your thoughts on the books you’ve read, or if you haven’t a blog, leave your thoughts in a comment below. I am looking forward to growing our awareness of Japanese literature in translation together, and adding works to my own ever increasing collection.

Hey Bellezza, thanks for hosting for the 17th year! I am waiting in our public library Hold line for Keigo Higashino’s The Final Curtain. Once I’ve got it (hopefully in time) I’ll dive in and participate in JLC 17.

Arti, I’m so glad you told me that you’re waiting for Higashino’s The Final Curtain, because thanks to you, I am, too! Our library has a copy, and I’m super excited. He’s one of my favorite thriller/mystery writers ever. So glad you’re diving in with me!

So far I’ve read all his books that are translated into English. (I think) And I found two last year translated into Chinese in our public library and I read them also! Have written reviews of them on Ripples. Don’t think they have even been translated into English yet. So, I was really excited to find them in our library. Glad we will be reading the same book again, reminds me of the read-along’s we did years ago. 🙂

I’m always up for another one with you! Shall we do this latest Higashino together? When do you expect it to come in?

Just got a library notice that The Final Curtain is in transit to the branch near me so should be in the next few days. When are the dates for JLC 17? Don’t forget, I’m a slow reader. 😉

I’m a very slow reader, myself, and I have quite a few books on my plate for both the JLC17 and my Book Club. Shall we do a final post toward the end of January? Don’t feel pressured by me, you can certainly read it “independently” if that works better for you.

Yes I think it works for me to have a post on it by the end of January. I’d enjoyed our previous read alongs which were generally quite slow so, no pressure. Would be a pleasure to read together for JLC 17! Will keep u posted as to my progression.

I’ve just read my first four (related) books for this and have written my blog post (up tomorrow). Can’t wait to link up and to read what all the others are reviewing – thank you, as always, for being such a Japanophile and for hosting!

That is one of my favorite parts: to see what everyone is reading and thus grow my own awareness of possibilities. As well as books I may wish to avoid! Thank you, Marina, for your participation.

Oh, I am so excited re this challenge, I’m glad it’s back. I did review Kawabata’s book a few days ago, but didn’t know this challenge was running again, so made no links up. I would certainly keep an eye on other books to read and review until February for this challenge. Thank you!

I hope you are doing well. Happy 2024.
