This challenge is really a lovely idea. I’m not good at keeping up, but I do have a number of Japanese novels I want to read, and perhaps this will be an excuse to take one off the shelf. Most of the Japanese books I have are short, so it shouldn’t be a problem!

So happy to have you, Kat. Am I right in thinking you have joined us before? No matter, I’m glad to have you now, and I look forward to what you’ll read.

I’d love to take part, too, but probably in March when I’m back home and can access the Japanese fiction in my TBR.

Hi Meredith, I will be reading THE TEN LOVES OF NISHINO by Hiromi Kawakami soon. It will be published this summer, I am so glad I received the arc 🙂
I just want to let you know that I am participating, I did not see my name in the list 😌💛

Oh dear, Sylvie, I thought sure I had you listed. I will double check and fix it immediately. How wonderful that you received an arc of a Japanese novel! I look forward to your thoughts of The Ten Loves of Nishino. xo

Please do add me as well. I might also join you and Frances for the Pillow Book. Is there a date?

Caroline, I am thrilled to have you join in the JLC12! I will tidy up procedures with Frances about The Pillow Book and post specifics, but I believe we will simply read it in February and discuss it at the end. So glad you are interested. xo

Very interested. End of February sounds great.
I’m looking forward to it. And I’ve also got Convenience Store Woman and hopefully something else. xo

Is it too late for me to take part? I have a fat IQ84 sitting on my shelves glaring sternly at me, and I think I would be more motivated to read if I was part of a reading challenge and club it with other Japanese books.

I would love to have you join in! The JLC12 lasts until April 1, so you have lots of time, although 1Q84 IS a fat book! 😊💖

It is, so intimidatingly fat.

But, good! I remember the ideas of a parallel universe so well from this one.
