It was purely by chance I discovered an invitation, put forth by Julia Bird, on Twitter this evening.
Apparently there is an organized reading of Susan Cooper’s The Dark Is Rising, a children’s book published in 1973 which I have long seen on school library shelves but never read myself.
The read-along begins on Midwinter Eve (December 20) and runs through the Twelfth Night (January 5) with discussion happening on Twitter using the hashtag: #TheDarkisReading.
Perhaps you will join in, as well. It sounds too delectable to pass.
I’m always on the lookout for new children’s books, so I’ll join you in reading the book, even if I probably won’t do the Twitter discussion.

No, I’m not much for Twitter, either. (All the political comments of the last year make me so unhappy.) But, if we talk about books that’s a good thing. I’m glad you’re joining in, too! xo

This sounds great, Bellezza. I would love to join, if I get a Kindle copy.

I hope that getting a copy isn’t a problem. It seems like such a good book to read for this time of year: festive, but not overly long. It’s my first time reading this classic.

I have found a copy, Bellezza. I want to join in. Could you please tell me if only one book is going to read? ‘The Dark is Rising’ which is the second one in the series? Or the whole series?

This particular book is for The Dark is Rising, which is the second book in the series but apparently can stand alone. I’m so glad you found a copy! If I like it as much as everyone else seems to, I’ll read all four. Eventually.

Yaaay! Thank you, Bellezza.
If I like it, I am looking forward to read the series too. I am glad to join you all.
